Riding on Karakoram Highway

Your journey begins in Islamabad with a full briefing and bike handover before heading north. Depending on the season, the route either follows the historic plains through Abbottabad and Mansehra or climbs towards the greener valleys of Naran. It is an easy first day to get comfortable with the bike while leaving the city behind and entering the mountains.

The real character of the Karakoram Highway begins here. Riding through the dramatic Kohistan region, the road cuts through narrow gorges and follows the Indus River deep into the mountains. If traveling via Naran, you cross the high-altitude Babusar Pass 4100m before descending to join the highway. Long riding day, but one of the most rewarding.

The landscape opens up as you head towards Upper Hunza. Ride past turquoise waters of Attabad Lake and continue through small villages and wide valleys. Suspension bridges, glaciers, and sharp peaks begin to define the scenery as you approach Passu.

Today is all about altitude. Ride up to Khunjerab Pass 4700m, one of the highest paved border crossings in the world. The road runs through Khunjerab National Park, where the terrain becomes vast and open. The air is thin, the scale is massive, and the ride is unforgettable.

Ride from Passu towards Hunza Valley, following one of the most scenic sections of the Karakoram Highway. The journey is short, giving you time to properly experience Hunza rather than just pass through it.

Spend the day exploring the region, including visits to Duiker viewpoint, Baltit Fort and Altit Fort, both offering insight into the history and architecture of the valley. Walk through traditional villages, spend time in Karimabad bazaar, and continue towards the striking Hopper Glacier for close views of the glacier and surrounding peaks.

A balanced day of riding and exploration, with more time to take in the culture and landscapes of Hunza.

In the morning we head back towards Gilgit with a brief detour to Naltar Valley. Continue our journey to Gilgit and transfer to hotel.

Begin the return journey along the Karakoram Highway. It is a long ride, but familiar terrain now feels different on the way back. The mountains gradually give way to lower valleys as you descend.

Final ride back to Islamabad. Traffic increases as you approach the capital, marking the end of the expedition. Drop off the bikes, and the journey wraps up with a farewell dinner and time to reflect on the road you have just completed. END OF TOUR
